I hate acne. And it seems the more I hate it, the more it invades my face. My severe anxiety obviously makes me a very stressed individual, and in the last year or so, my face has taken quite a beating for it.
A couple parts of my acne that have caused me the most grief are 1) cystic acne and 2) dark spot scarring. I am surprisingly pale, and whenever a pimple explodes and dies it often leads a dark spot in its place. I want to feel comfortable going out without a full face of foundation on, and varying spots on my face have made me quite self conscious in these last months where my acne has spiraled out of control.
The cystic acne I have is by far the worst. Though I normally only deal with one "volcano" (as my mom calls them) at a time, they often last for weeks, take days to even come to a head, and then they will end up having multiple heads and resurrecting itself over and over! The pressure on the skin while the pimple is deep within is painful and irritating, not to mention that no one wants a bump on their face.
Anyways, in my battle with acne I recently bought a Foreo Espada, a blue light emitter that is made specifically to kill the bacteria under the skin. Once you turn it on, it begins its treatment when it comes in contact for the skin and will vibrate to let you know to move it to another spot.
This is a gem, I've been using it on my blackheads and varying smaller pimple areas. It prevents me from picking at my pimples (which prevents dark spots), and helps shrink them. Many areas that I have been having trouble with have calmed down with the use of this tool and the acne medications I had been using previously.
My biggest victory, however, was with a cystic pimple that I felt developing 4-5 days ago. Normally I would try to douse it in medication and hope it would shrink, but all efforts would fail and I'd be left with another nasty and painful blemish for a month. However, recently I had heard that one of my favorite acne fighters, the Cosrx Pimple Patches (you can read my post about them in Skincare), were effective on deep pimples if you consistently used them on the spot. I had previously thought that they only worked on surface acne, but considering how nothing else had worked, I decided to start putting them over the bump. I also (for the first time) used my Espada on the same deep pimple. This too is advertised more for surface acne, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try it out.
I am blown away. Within just a few days I have felt my pimple progress incredibly quickly and already begin to deflate without even needing to surface! I have only been using the patches and the Espada (Other than my face wash and face brush), and I am so delighted at how quickly its fading away. This is easily the shortest, and also the least painful, of my cystic acnes reign of terror on my face. I'm so excited that I have a way to actually attack them instead of waiting them out.
The Espada is expensive, but Foreo does have sales, and I think if Acne is big problem for you than it is totally worth it. Fore also has fantastic warranties and quality guarantees, putting your mind to rest over worries that it might give out.
