Lip Combo #1

Lips have become my latest canvas on my face. Until recently I didn't do a whole lot with lip stick/gloss. Over the holidays, not only did I get some great products on sale but my generous family members also gave me a bunch of different lip sets. Now as it's bound to happen in every package grouping, there are some colors that tend to just not work for you, whether they're too dark, or too light, or too snazzy, whatever. But with me being a normal individual who knows the prices of makeup, I'm not going to throw away perfectly good products unless they're hideous or burning my lips off.

So, I've started mixing and matching my lip colors, and I've really enjoyed finding my own unique color combos that work for me while making use of what I have.

For my latest one I just used two colors:

~Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lip Gloss (What a name) in Opaque Deep Black Cherry

~Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in Nude Mauve

(These are the best color estimates I can guess from the Sephora website, unfortunately the smaller products don't have color names on them)

-Marc Jacobs Lip Gloss

Price: $$$

The lip gloss I tried had great color pigmentation. Often with lip glosses the color comes out lighter than it appears in the tube, but this one stays true to color. It spreads on smoothly, which is a plus, however it is EXTREMELY thick and the first time I used it WAY too much got on my mouth, and since I don't intend to eat this gloss, I would recommend you wipe some of the product off on the tube before usage. It's on the stickier side of the glosses I've tried so that could be a plus or a minus for you based on personal preference. How much can you really say about a gloss? Not a whole lot. It was a good gloss. But it's expensive, and for being pretty normal, I suggest you go try it out in a store before buying it.

It does have some kind of peppermint in it to plump your lips, which is a nice bonus. And overall, it does make my lips look shapely and I like wearing it, though I'm not sure I would pay for it myself.

-Tarteist Lip Paint:

Price:$$

This is also a gloss, however it was surprisingly dry, and doesn't spread all that easily. It has a decent color pigment but it takes several applications to get enough on. It wasn't remarkable. Also, I don't know why but my applicator is a dark dingy green under the nude color. I don't think it's from me mixing glosses (I try to put the lighter one on first) but who knows.
