AZTEC SECRET- Indian Healing Clay

I'm always on the lookout for new pore shrinking and acne fighting masks. Between genetics and my stress hormones, it seems like for every pimple that dies two more pop up. I had read numerous reviews of this Clay mask and with over 13,000 reviews on Amazon that resulted in a 4.4 out of 5 ratings, I decided to try it and see if it lived up to the hype of being the holy grail of clay masks.

The mask comes in the form of a clay powder that you mix yourself. It's hard to beat the cost- It's less than 9$ for a whole pound of the stuff. The first time I used it turned out to be a dud. The instructions said to mix the power with equal parts of water and/or apple cider vinegar, so being lazy, I plunked the clay with only water into a bowl and mixed it. The result was the clay didn't combine with the water and I ended up trying to stick slightly tinted water with clay lumps onto my face. So that failed to say the least.

The next time, I combined the clay powder with equal parts water and apple cider vinegar and this time it actually blended. It formed a solid mask that is quite gentle on the skin, though it is very messy. I would recommend removing it with a hand cloth or baby wipes to avoid your sink drain being clogged. I was surprised at how kind this mask was to my sensitive skin, while tightening there was no sensation of burning that I might have otherwise expected from putting vinegar on my face. I have yet to see the long term effects of this mask but for the price it's a steal I would definitely recommend to anyone with oily and/or acne prone skin, or with large pores.

Just for an example, I have added a picture of the last time I used this mask. However, I was in a rush, so it's pretty lumpy, and makes my face look the way I imagine I would look like as a witch- Green and lumps that look like warts.
